Sorry for the ignorance, i'm totally new to nitro engines. Some engines are 5 port, some 7 and some 8. What does that port thing mean? Can someone please clarify that for me?
Thank you!

Theoretically the more port area the more efficient the engine is in moving fuel/air into the cylinder and pushing exhaust out. So if the ports are the same size more indicates more power. Of course the movement of those gases is quite complex. I doubt you could correlate the number of ports with performance in any sort of reliable way.
I don't think I've ever seen any of the mainstream airplane or heli engines advertised based on their port count.

Yes Corey you are right. more ports more power more trouble and usually more cost.
In the car side they advertise up to 7 ports and for a .21 size engine you can pay over $1000 to go real fast.and super hard to set up due to the amount of fuel required to adjust just right.
In general I think most engines are 3 port. I saw that Nova Rossi is coming to Helis. They are a very good car engine right now and they will maybe up the anti for the 3D guys for HP per CI.
For a new guy to engines if you are talking airplanes or helis I would stay to the tried and true engines such as OS and Thunder tiger and Saito.
Even if you are running the cars 7 ports is very overkill and expensive.

Hello Fred,
Yes, it's for LST2 that comes with Mach427 7 port engine. I was looking at RB Concept TM928 (01900-000123) which is $350US. Not sure if I'd want to spend that much.
I like Mach427's torque and power; however I find that tunning and idle on those drives is a bit painfull...
