pluged in home made trainer cord to futaba T8 UHPS to another Futaba and the T8 went blank,with a smell of something burning. what happened ,can I fix it? Would like some input thanks.

Hey Glen. Maybe don't use home made trainer cords. Are you sure that was the radio burning and not something else. LOL :)

Hi Glen,

Sounds like you let the magic smoke out of something. Your description is consistent with an electrical overstress event. If your radio no longer range-checks properly then the best thing to do might be to send it in to Futaba for check-up and servicing. No point in taking chances with your airplane. Or with the cars in the parking lot for that matter. :(

To get back in the air quickly, check out the buy-and-sell forum. You should be able to pick up a deal there on something.

Hi Glen,

If you want more suggestions and if you are willing to open up the unit, a few good pictures might help. Sometimes it is just a thin PCB track that's burned. Replacing it with a piece of wire might fix the problem, but, again, I need to see what's inside.
