For those who might have seen the model at the March ORCC club meeting...
My scratchbuild Dehavilland Mosquito is now on the homestretch toward completion.

Boy... even *I* thought it was a pain to cover this model with all the compound sheeted curves. It's not going to win any scale competitions, but should look OK as it screams past on strafing runs.
Just need to add some cosmetic details, and it'll be ready for a maiden.

Nah... there's still ton's of room in the Golf.... I can sling some nets from the roof back there and start hanging models from the ceiling while I drive.
The plan is to build up a critical mass of model airplanes BEFORE a significant other moves in with me. That way I can play the "they were here first" card when needed  ;) :D

Better order those 40 and 50% airframes NOW then...they are a little hard to hide on the spouse.....:p . The small ones mount to the walls so they are not in the way.....lol.....
When's the maiden on this one going to be schedualed???

It flies!
I was totally expecting to bring home a bag of sticks, but the maiden was as boring as can be. It flew really well... was a real nice floater on landing, and had no snappy tendancies.
Here are a couple pics from the maiden. More can be found here:

Yah, no kidding Fred.
...However, there have been at least 3 major scratchbuilds in the ORCC over the last year or so. Interestingly, all three a twin-engine models...go figure...
Dornier 28 - Aurele Alain
Dehavilland Mosquito - Tom Hastie
Grumman Goose - John Weekes
All 3 started literally from 3-views...Tom and I used AutoCad...not sure what program Aurele was using. It is a challenge...but really exciting to see your build come to life.
I'd urge anyone who is reasonably ambitious and who has a lot of building experience to give it a try...there is a risk...but the reward (satisfaction) is great! I just hope my Goose comes out as beautifully as Aurele's and Tom's gorgeous models!
As I've mentioned elsewhere on Calmdays, I will bring my Goose to next Tuesday's meeting for display, etc.

Hey guys..
Since still pics don't quite do it justice, I got Dave to take some video of the mosquito on Sunday when it was nice.

War movie buffs should recognize the soundtrack :D
The landing... well... lets just say I need to learn not to jam on the power when low and slow... Luckily, the only damage was a broken prop.

The guy holding the model is pretty good looking too... if I do say so myself ;);)
This came out today, and needless to say, I'm really surprised at their choice of cover art on the DVD... :)

I want a girl with a small bikini. What kind of cover is that hope the sales will be more than the one you buy LOL.
I told you, you didn't need the MAAC cover bigger things were in the works.
Good job
Fred

:DThis is great, Tom!!! Way to go... :D
Nice to see YOUR Mossi making the cover...rather than someone's Mossi that looks suspiciously similar to yours (i.e., the cover of the most recent edition of Model Aviation). ;)
