I read somewhere where this combo sometimes acted like a
"Tesla Electric Generator" as far as static was concerned -

is this really an issue with this setup ?? - can it be cured or should I just stay away from a heli with a "belt drive" -

just looking for opinions / thoughts on the subject -

looking to up-size ( but want to stay electric ) and checking my options :)

thanks for any and all thoughts !

MX400 has belt drive and aluminum boom. Seems to work ok there.

MX450 has a carbon boom, it would conduct electricity no problem there that I have heard.

I could see a nylon belt and plastic boom may cause static. Don't know

I've used lots of belt drives, in fact only two of my helis have been shaft drive. There is no problem with belt drives and static electricity since they are wrong kinds of material, usually grounded at both ends, and don't rub if they are adjusted correctly. Sounds like someone trying to tell you you'll die if you fly a belt drive, just like you'll die if you don't fly eCCPM, or with LiPos, or without LiPos (so your toast either way :D).
