I have been bitten again by the need for speed. This will be the build thread for my third iteration of the Super Sniper. This one is a V2 composite airframe modified with internal pushrods for the ailerons. Power system will be 10S running a CC45HV and a Lehner 1530/19DHI turning a HET 6904 70mm fan. Should output almost 1400 Watts if everything turns out as predicted. Short flight time though, I'll only average 4-5 minute flights with mixed throttle use.
I'll include photos as the parts arrive and construction begins.

Hooray! Finally someone to comiserate with me over charging 10S packs from a 12V deep cycle battery :) :P Time for a bank of batteries and a solar charger at the field.

Are you gonna be using Thunder Power Extremes?

I'll be watching this one very closely.... I'm itching for some speed now that i've gone all electric and sold my Vector Delta. I almost purchased the Sniper last week but decided to finish my Yak for now. Come spring I might bite the bullet and buy one.
1400 Watts.... that's almost double what you had in your previous Sniper!

Talk about a screamer.... what rpms do you expect at this power level?

Actually I am trying to find DC-DC boost converters able to handle up to 10 amps so I can run a cable from my car and run the chargers.
I have found solar panels that can run up to 5 Amp charges for around $140 including housings so we would be looking at roughly:

2x5Amp Solar Panels 2x$140 $280
1xCharge Controller $109
3xD31M 75Ah batteries 3x$209 $627

That would give us 225Ah of available energy that could completely recharge itself in about two to three days of sunshine.

For the Sniper fan it will probably be in the 45k range. Not alot of data in this area to model from in most of the programs so I will do some initial tests at 8s and slowly work up. I am basing a lot of this on Joe's work on his Sniper V4.

Does the V2 have clipped wings like the V4?

I'm planning on clipping the wings and doing a custom elevator on it to give it a bit more authority.

Tick tok, tick tok, waiting for parts that were "in stock" to arrive and ship.
