At Christmas i got a gyro for my Blade Pro. It is not the Eflight one btut the Zoom Head lock and dual rate. I have only flown it a couple of times since I installed but I cannot seem to get it stay straight. I can hover it about a foot off the ground but if i try and go higher it starts to turn. I give it full tale rotor imput in the opposite direction and it does not do anything. I have tried adjusting the gain but cannot seem to fix it.
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tyler

Did you turn off the mix on your 3 in 1 ?
Maybe your tail motor is on it's last legs. The Heading lock gyros are quite aggressive on turning on and off so the motor has to have pretty good brushes.
Remember, on the the channel 5 pot to the left is normal mode gain and from center to the right is heading lock mode gain. The gain adjust on the gyro doesn't do anything when ch5 is plugged in.
About all I can think of

Thanks for the suggestions Fred
It seems that i had forgot to turn of the gain on the 3in1 and once that was turned off it worked a lot better.
It was still turning a bit but that might be a diying tail motor or now that the 3in1 is turned off I might just need to make a few minor adjustments.
Thanks,
Tyler

Just some thoughts...........
I recently found out that there are two type of TXs for these guys ( CP Pro ) ( who knew )
the first one - one needs to have the throttle trim set to nothing in order for the heli end to initalize, and the one that I have, I can leave the throttle trim at half way
( or as I think neutral ) and it will initialize.....
we tested the other with trim set as mine, and it won't initalize "period" - now - - - -
I tried my trim set in both positions at power up, and then flew the CPP - there was a noticeable difference in the way the HH gyro acted - it was much better when I turned on the TX with the trim set down to the bottom, than when I powered up with the trim set middle... although I still have to whack the tail stick once and awhile on spool up if it falls asleep on me..
little did I know - I wasn't even aware that the other TX existed or the power up trim setting business - they both look the exactly the same - I had always had all trims set to neutral right from taking it out of the box
( after it had been test flown at the factory :D )
I think that the manual states something about the trim settings - but hey - who reads manuals
( I know RTFM - only if I HAVE TO )
so - may be nothing - may help someone - I am going to start powering up with my throttle trim down , and then move it up to neutral - 'cause with mine " it does something"
who knows - ( one for the "myth busters" )

I forgot to metion that temp changes really affect mine - if I fly outside in the late fall / mild mid winter / early spring - I set my CPP out in the garage for 1/2 hr or so before I take it out........ to let it acclimatize itself..
I learned the hard way, took it right outside in the late fall and spooled up, and once I was off the ground the gyro just went "wacky" on me......

Most gyros will drift as the temperature changes and should be at ambient temperature before you go flying. All will drift to some degree as they cool/heat, some have compensation circuits but some compensate better than others. Of course you notice it more if the tail is sitting still and you are practicing hovers as opposed to moving the tail around all the time. Vibration can also cause gyros to behave poorly.
