Proof from Drummond field today that winter lift does exist:

Corey,
Interesting... How is winter lift indicated in this graph? Also, what's the full-power climb rate of the glider?

Would you call that "Lift" or "Reduced Sink"?

Basically the parts of the graph with a shallower slope indicate lift. The second climb put me into a patch which allowed me to hold a steady altitude for a little bit and the descent after the third climb shows a few patches of lift. Certainly no strong lift (of course it wasn't the lack of my ability to find and take advantage of any existing strong lift ;)) but enough to stretch out the glide times.
The dead-air glide for the EraserXE from 400 ft is about 3 minutes. Any sustained stretch of the graph showing a sink rate of less than 2.2feet/second or in the case of this graph .75metres/second indicates that the glider is benefiting from some lift. Any descent greater than .75m/s indicates either sink or pilot induced descent.
I find most of the climbs on the XE with fresh batteries are around 6m/s or about 18ft/s.
