Hey Neil,

Here's a link to the thread I was trying to find last night. It's pretty cool how this guy setup the blackhawk.

mmmmm very nice, thanks.

wild what some guys are doing with micros.
I think I'm going to try the huey .
If Mike is just waiting on a pinion I have a motor with pinion we could drop in his heli. Let me know.

You asked for results of the AXI in the 3d pro.

Bolts right in no mods. I'm running an AXI2208/20 18 tooth 48pitch losi pinion(metal no more exploding plastic pinions) 2500 rpm at the head @ 79% throttle.
It's drawing 2.8-3 amps no load, 5.7-6 amps full neg pitch @ 11 degrees.
18 tooth is best so far 20 tooth nice as well but a little overkill and a higher draw. Still need to test more ratios.
In flight the AXI will not bog at all, with govenor mode it will hold it's RPM no matter what I throw at it and until the last 30 sec of the battery.
My battery is running much cooler almost no heat motor also much cooler. run times have gone up by about 1 1/2 min if just hovering and about 2 1/2 min with some FFF.
Kokam 910 @ 82 grams is giving 10 min of hover, thunder power 1320 @91 grams is giving 12 1/2 min of hover, times go up with foward flight.

I will be trying AXI 2208/26 next should be slightly less draw and I would imagine still have more than enough power.Just have to put it in and run some numbers. I'll let you know.:)

Hey Wingnut,

Sounds to me like the Axi's are a great way to go.

We got Ed's 3D pro off the ground on Saturday. It took me a bit to trim it for hovering but it was pretty nice. I really like the variable pitch tail more than the motor driven one on my hummer.

I also got the courage up to try FFF with my hummer. The first attempt went well. I made one circuit then settled back into a hover and landed. I was trembling. After I calmed down I went for another circuit but something went wrong and the heli wasn't responding properly to inputs. I wound up crashing it into the asphalt. After giving it a good look over it appears that the screw holding one of the mixing levers in place had come out thus resulting in my inability to control the pitch on one of the blades.

I couldn't believe how fast this thing flew in FFF. It's pretty much all stock and I can't believe people say it won't fly because it really flew.

bah, to those who say it cant be done your heli can fly as you found out.
So many people quickly label the heli as "no good", when it is really not the case.

Glad to hear you got moving around. I hear you on the trembling, my first week of forward flight I shook so bad I could almost not control the heli.
I was more scared with heli's than planes but I think it was all the "its so hard, it cant be done, take it easy" etc I heard with heli's, which I feel is over done. Its not 1970 anymore these things fly great. A little sim time and then of to the field.

Are you still looking at a 3D Pro? It would be nice to have another to work a scale project with. I like your cable driven tail idea, working on it now.:)

we are flying tonight, let me know if you like to get in on it.
Should have 3D Pro, a freind will have a Blade, Shogun, MaxiR SE, and 2 FP with him and maybe other pilots will join in also.

Sorry I didn't see your reply until now. I had ball tonight and my bird is grounded anyway. My tailboom is a real mess so instead of repairing it I'm going to start fitting everything into a Huey. I think I'll be looking at using an Axi to power since I know the stock motor won't cut the mustard. I'll start a build thread when I get the project underway.

I am still looking at a 3D Pro but it's not at the top of the priority list right now. I've got some work on a few planes that needs to be finished.

How was the flying tonight?

Flying went well, mostly flew my planes but got some hovering in.
Sorry to hear about your boom.

Looking forward to your build thread.
Is it a race to discount to get the Huey?:)
Keep me in the loop on your build and how it goes.

If any of my mods work out I will post them as well.
