I was kind of bored last night so I started drawing. I drew up some plans for a small pusher jet 20" span and started building it.

I'm using some equipment I had lying around.
gws 2 amp speed controller
gws lps motor and gearbox (7 x 3.5" prop)
2cell 480 or 2cell 730 lipos
gws 4 channel receiver

I performed some glide tests in order to find the right CG before installing the electronics and marked the CG. I finished the build tonight. All that's left is to install 1 missing servo that i'll pick up tomorrow.
This build was based on the Littlebirdz.com Bullet and Stealth-E.
I'll try and maiden as soon as the weather cooperates. Not bad for a 2 day design and build.

Yes Sev you got to much free time! Looks neat!

Is the tail a laucnh handle or like a drag racer looks like a down force wing?

:o
The "downforce tail" just didn't seem to fit with the overall look of this microjet. I changed it today to a much more fitting V tail.
Here it is. Hoping for good weather!

I took out this minijet in the wind on Saturday and had a maiden flight. Overall the maiden was successful in that it flew... and I had a controlled landing. At the time I thought it was twitchy because of the strong gusts of wind but later on Saturday I attempted to fly indoors without any success. I played with the CG but didn't seem to hit it just right. On one attempt I crashed into the ceiling and it came crashing down from pretty high up. Anyway... I taped up the damage and tried again but this time the propellor fell off in flight. To my surprise the minijet came down in a very nice glide. I checked the cg without the prop and now know where it should be.
In the last few days i've been rebuilding the nose and modifying the ailevons. I'm almost ready to try again. I'll post an update at that time.

you know... your minijet sure looks alot like an F-117.... the aircraft that (in)-famously won't fly without the flight computer keeping the whole thing stable?

Are you sure your flight control computer isn't on the fritz? Have you checked the gain of your PID controllers in your feedback loop?

Is your flux capacitor capaciting?

Otherwise... looks good!:)

Ahh, that's gotta be it. Maybe it's not getting its one point two one jiggawatts!

Oh man... this is getting HEAVY!

Great Scott!!! 1.21 jiggawatts.....

Take a deep breath everyone... we can get though this... now let's see...

1.21 jiggawatts = 1.21 Gigawatts = 1.21 Giga Joules in one second.

So from E = m * c^2 we get 1.21e9 = m * (3e8)^2
solving for the mass m we need m= 74,380,165 grams of garbage to do the deed in one second.

Oops! This system is using fusion. Does anyone know whether the equation is only valid for fission, or does it work for fusion as well?

So the answer is... i need nuclear power on this stealth minijet.
Only problem is I don't know if there is a gigawatt club yet.. and I don't think that with this puppy i'll be able to fit enough kw club stickers to rate it at 1 Gigawatt.

I might have to use antimatter drive to keep the weight down!

Anyway... The repairs are complete so i should be able to remaiden this one as soon as the wind dies down.
Just for reference the current power setup is as follows:
8.4 Volts x 1.75 Amps = 14.7 watts of input power so I guess that makes me part of the 1 deciwatt club
:p

Need a challenge! Sev.

A fellow from the hull club had a twin Gremlin, I think 2 40's

I saw it fly at arnprior about 6 or 7 years ago.

Can you say fast.

Got to love those twins
