Well... I maidened the XPD-8 tonight. Needless to say... I'm more than dissapointed with the stock setup.

I wasn't expecting a missile.... but I was hoping to be able to hand launch this thing.
Before the maiden I checked the CG and control throws. My setup is the stock DF with ball bearing brushed 370 motor. 25 amp speed controller, electron 6 receiver and a 3s1p Thunder power 1320.
The maiden went ok. There was a little bit of wind and that helped with the hand launch. I threw it pretty hard and still only managed to miss the ground by about 6 inches. I flew for most of the battery pack and performed a pretty decent landing. I recharged the batteries and tried again but by this time the wind had died down. I attempted a hand launch exactly the same as the one before but the plane just didn't have enough thrust to climb. I ended up breaking one of the wing tip stabilizers so I went home and fixed it with some foam safe ca. Walked to the field... and the same thing happened again. So by that time I was pretty dissapointed. I figure i'll try and build a simple rail launch system or only fly it when there is some wind to help with the hand launch.
