After 3 unsuccessful forced auto's in just as many months, the JR Venture today was again forced to auto.
I was flying at the sod farm this morning when I heard the engine rev up as if it where running out of fuel. The heli was to my left and about to pass in front of me when the engine quit. OH *&*#$ Without the likes of Ed Whynot, Scott Clarke or Mike Gratton yelling in the back ground to "AUTO", I watched the heli continue to fly by me very quietly. Strange:eek:
Flipped my auto switch, lowered collective and down she came. Nose pitched up for a quick second, tail rotor stopped turning while still 75 feet off the deck. Gradually began feeding collective as it got closer to the deck, full flare and a not so soft touch down BUT all in one piece:D
Cause: main fuel clunk disengaged from the line
Question is - can I do this again:rolleyes:
