Dang! not a good sight seen over the ORCC power field.
I guess I'll have to build a Surface to SeaGull Missile (-SSM-) to protect myself.

They are back for vengance after I belly slapped one of their friends with my Raptor. Flew away but I learned some new swear words in seagull. He was obviously offended and is back to protect his honour. :D

There are a truly frightening number of gulls out at the Rockcliffe Flying Club. Apparently bird strikes aren't that common (my instructor's only ever hit two, both on the same flight) so the gulls must have a good idea of how to get out of the way of something the size and speed of a Cessna.
Maybe the fact that RC aircraft are smaller and behave a little more erratically leads to a greater likelyhood of encounter? That, and the fact that the RC airplanes spend a lot more time at low altitude?
I've just got to say, lining up on final with 150-200 gulls sitting around the numbers on the runway threshold is kind of unnerving, even if you know that they USUALLY get out of the way in time. ;)

Only bird strike I ever had was across the river at night running an approach into Gatineau. Wasn't a gull though. looked like bits-o-goose when we got on the ground.
