Does anyone have a collection of 1:20000 or 1:50000 digital or paper topographic maps for eastern Ontario and southwestern Quebec? I refuse to believe that there are no suitable slope soaring sites in the Ottawa area so I am going to start a methodical search for suitable hills that we can get access to. I will buy the maps if need be but that adds up pretty quickly given the area I want to cover.

I know you mentioned that you’re on Linux (I think) and therefore can’t run Google earth, however it might be just the ticket for finding a site. It overlays DTED data with high res satellite imagery. As well, you can pan/tilt/rotate/zoom the view to your hearts content.
See attached screenshot of the Gatineau Hills looking southeast towards Ottawa (In the picture you’re roughly straight across the river from Constance Lake.) You can also turn up the terrain elevation exaggeration to be able to spot smaller variations in terrain.

I hope you can find a good site Corey, the glider guys have been trying to find a decent location since the late 70s. If there is a spot where I and other could do the LSF 8 hour slope site locally there would be a number of happy campers.
