Just a reminder that the ORCC will convene its annual auction during our regular club meeting next Tuesday, Feb. 7th at 8PM. Once again, Brian Wattie has agreed to serve as auctioneer for the event. Gudmund Thompson, Dave Penchuk, Dick Mills and I will be assisting.
All model airplane buffs are encouraged to attend...bring your stuff to sell...or money to buy...
Here are the details:
1. Open to everyone
2. Arrive by 7-7:30 with your stuff to be itemized and numbered
3. The sales transaction is between sellor and buyer - not with the ORCC
4. 10% charge to sellor for all items sold
5. Flat $5 nonrefundable fee for all items with a reserve
6. The ORCC cannot necessarily make change for you (particularly at the early stages of the event).
Hope to see you there...

hi John , I believe the Tuesday for Auction is the 7th not 8th of FEB
I'll be there, ( also just quickly, and ORCC field updates?)

Thanks, Tony, I made the change...
Not much to report on...other than last I heard the City's proposal for the incinerator facility had not even been submitted. So, maybe predictably, this process may take a while and we'll keep on flying at the West-end field for the time being...

Please feel free to post a photo of any item that you may have ready for the Auction! If you do so makes sure the posted item in the photo shows up for the Auction eh!
My only beef is items often get sold under the table before the Auction begins!

Hmmm.... I hope to see a 6ch or more computer radio at the auction. Setting the trim everytime I switch model is getting to my nerves.
Hint Hint!!!!

Anything's possible, Sev. However, the more elaborate Txs I've seen in the past at the auction are generally much older models...otherwise, it's generally the basic 4ch stuff being sold off by guys who have outgrown them.
I am bringing 2 models to sell (no reserve):
Funtana 40
Lanier Extra 3.25

Funtana's are SOOOO "last year"...
This year's "must have" model is the Orville, right Ken?
- there... did that drive down the price any?
However, if you absolutely must have a Funtana, I have the perfect companion to your new model. I'll grab a picture of it and post it here for all of you to drool over. Stand by about an hour...

What's that?!?! You're gonna auction off the Orville.......with batt's and power system...........I'll be sure to bring some money then.:p
Dave
Just trying to live up to the assigned nick-name.........and I'm kinda bored:o

Here's the perfect auction item to get you drooling! It even has it's own integral drool-protective cover!
Up for bidding is one, un-opened Funtana 40 Assembly manual. This manual is still unopened and inside the protective cover it came shipped in. Absolutely MINT! A must see. You will not find another Funtana manual in this condition anywhere! (Unless of course you order a Funtana 40). The PERFECT item to go along with that fully assembled Funtana 40 you recently purchased from a certain club president.
Due to the condition of this item, I would ask that a reserve bid of $50 be placed on this item. As has been stated, you would be hard pressed to find a manual like this, untouched by CA or epoxy... with no knife marks from being used as an impromptu cutting board.
There you are. Feel free to commence drooling. It will wipe off clean!

Oh sure, Tom's manual may look pretty, but I wonder how well it works? I seem to remember that his Funtana crashed last year. I'm guessing that thare was something wrong with the manual that led up to the crash. Why else would he be selling it so cheap? So if you want to play it safe, I would recommend a Funtana manual with a proven track record. I just happen to have such a manual. Oh sure, it may have a few glue blobs and coffee stains, but that only increases the resale value.
Opening bid $100... and worth every penny.

Here we go, guys...hang on to your hats...my 100th post...chock full of really interesting and useful model airplane information...just like my previous 99!!! :D
Yippeee...I'm now a Senior Member...just like Tom...boy do I ever feel different now...
...In my long term relationship with the Funtana 40 design I have in my possession 2...yes TWO owners manuals...AND I have a very rare UCANDO manual that was owned by the famous Raphael Ready from Tork'n Dork models (I believe he is the "dork")!!! ...Yes, start your drooling and bidding...
All are used and very reliable...not like the untested experimental crap that Hastie is peddling. ....Actually, I thought the plastic wrap in his pics is aftermarket and NOT original...moreover, I think the tape seal isn't intact.:(
Geeez, the things guys'll do to try to make model airplane buck, eh?
John
...There I've stooped to an all time low just to get my postings up...

Havn't seen you out flying in a long time? Someone said you don't like the snow? Got skies? Winter fun/fly almost here. More chances for us to win the .60 size raffle prize I guess.

Had a good time last night!
Deborah comment 2 sec after getting in the door was predictable!
"Another Airplane!!!!" - You got 4 kits in the basement you still havn't built!
But But But Dear!!! I sold a radio for 100$ and bought the plane for 60$ - Iam still up 30$ for the night!
I bought Dave Penchuk's - Sig Wonder AKA-Blue Angles - Nice model - Went way cheaper than I was willing to pay for! Wow!!! Iam seriously thinking of going Monster Truck show on this model and mount my new 90mm Toki .18 Ducked Fan! I hope to have it flying for the Armprior Jet rally this year.
100-60=30 ?
Got change for a hundred? :D

I did the same thing... I even had a message all typed up to raz Ken on his math skills (We eng-uh-neers are brutal;) ) but then I realized where his $10 before I hit the send button. I hit the "X" button instead.
Ah well...
At least i got this post in now so I can stay ahead of John and Dave post-count wise. They're catching up.

Good thing you didn't because, as a researcher and statistician, I would have to slam the engineers...
Ken was correct in his calculations...
The club was fortunate enough to raise about $225 as a result of last night's event.
It was fun...I managed to turn over some stuff to help finance my two current (BIG) building projects.
Now...off to the hobby shop with my list... :D :D

Better that than the Corsair.

Ken,
Some of that is true :p Broc, was a little intrigued as I was looking it over in the living room. Luckily he knows what's OK to chew and what's not. So far anyway. Gayle doesn't swear she just rolls her eyes..... which is worse actually.
Tom, true, very true. I think there'd be a dog looking for new home if he got a hold of my Corsair, or any of my planes for that matter:p Just kidding
Cheers,
Dave

I poured over the two plan sets I bought at the auction ($2 a piece) when I got home from the auction (while laughing at Letterman!).
One is the Ziroli Corsair...looks like it's about the same size as your TF Corsair, Dave. ...Also, it looks like it is very stand off scale...I think someone would have to do a lot of work (modify) to make it competitive. Dave, yours is MUCH more scale than this thing...neat plane, though...
The other plan I grabbed was for the Byron/Hostetler GeeBee (80"). This plan looks promising. The build is traditional and fairly straightforward...considering the fact that the GeeBee is such an unusual configuration. The wing looks tiny in comparison with the bulbous fuse (which is huge and cavernous!). The only big challenges would be getting hold of (or making) the cowl and landing gear pants (moulded up to the wing). The GeeBee was the first plastic model I made when I was really young...I've always thought it was a cool airplane.
...Might just have to slot this one into the "build line"...:D
John
ps: Louis Rocque grabbed the plans for the giant DC-3...told me he was going to build it electric...it'll be great to see it at the SuperDome next year! NOT!! :D Louis is a master builder...this model will be awesome!
