Hey Corey,

Ed was telling me you've got some tricks to tweak RealFlight G3 to behave as well as Reflex for simulating heli flight.

Would you mind posting your tips up here so we could use your ideas to do some tweaking ourselves.

The biggest thing is to mach sure you are patched up to the latest version. The heli model in the NIB version I had was terrible. There was a 200Mb patch that I downloaded as part of the auto-update feature which realy improved the helis.

The second big this is use the photofields. They reduce the processor power dedicated to generating images and allow more cycles for refining the flight model. Also turn off any graphic effects you aren't using.

The stock Impala doesn't fly very well. Its controls are unrealistically slow and I find the head usually holds too much energy during autos to be realistic. Once you are out of hover pick something more demanding and lively. The Dominion 3D 90 is what I find seems to come closest to flying a well tuned up 50.

Finally, turn on the wind and keep it gusty. Change the direction frequently, you will almost always be flying in some sort of breeze so get used to it.
