Anyone know of any control line flying in and or around Ottawa?

I have heard rumours but anyone I ask doesn't know of any.

Point me in the right direction.

The last time I witnessed a group of ukies flying, it was the summer of 1993. I took a turn at the wires myself, bringing back fond memories of my beginnings in the hobby.

Haven't seen hide nor hair of a u-control plane since.

It is still one of my ambitions to deck out a model with an e-motor and fly it through the pattern. Maybe some day.

good evening,

electric control line, absolutely. As you may already be aware, Bob Hunt has made the US control line team flying an electric powered stunter and intends to fly at the worlds with this plane. My guess is that there might be even more than Bob this year and many more in following years.

I have that urge too as well as an electric powered control line speed type plane. There are some current standing speed records in the US but I don't think there was ever any activity in Canada.

It is too bad there is not more interest around Ottawa. There a few pockets of interest across the country and interest in control line (as well a free flight) seems to be on the upswing.

If you see or hear of any activity send them this way.

cheers, Graham

I hav a 25 size C/L.. I may blow the dust off it and bring it out to the field this summer..... I think I need new wires, as its about 20 years old!!!

The more the merrier.

I am still waiting to hear from Scott Clarke on being able to fly C/L at the Stetson field. He seemed to recall that it would be OK but was going to check the clubs rules/bylaws.

This thread seems to have gone stale some timne ago.

If there is interest I would put a Top Flite, Flite Streak together. They have a pretty nice ARF.

Would love to try it again, bring back the good old times.

Seems nobody will take the bull by the horns and get things off the ground.

Our fearless leader of MAAC, Richard Barlow, has been trying to get things going in this area and there are lots like me and you just waiting to show up at circle someplace.

Maybe the all clubs fun fly in Smith Falls this year.

I know of one Flight Streak that is being built right now.
By Claude M. our ZD. As of last Tues.
Last year Richard B. flew his unamed CLer with a Fox 35 and Rolly S. flew his P-40 with a Brodak 40.
Seeing those stunters on the end of 60 foot lines was awesome.
Its a very serious thing hanging onto the control handle when those engines are cranked wide open.
Just my opinion of course.
I have only one CL plan (of a non 1/2A). Its the P-63 from the Midwest kit. At 33 inches its good for a .15 or more for power. See attached pic.

Correction: Claude is building the Skyray 35 and it is now ready to cover and paint.

I use to flight the Nobler in the pass but looking at the Top Flite web site the Score looks better. Probably if I see some one at the field with C/L I will put together one of these ARFs just to remember the old times.

This thread kind of starts and stops and dies from time to time. Seems there is a bit of interest.

I have been building a couple of c/l planes to fly this year but haven't really found a good place to fly.

Fred and Dan, Bill has hinted that about using the west end of the Rideau Flyers field for control line. Main field would work too but of course when it doesn't interfere with the normal RC flying.

Any where else in Ottawa to fly? I have been asking around out here in Embrun where I live but I haven't found anything suitable.

The new ORCC is quite large and there might be room there someone mentioned to me but I haven't been to the new field yet. Might be worth asking the ORCC board.

And as for the regional fun fly at the Smith Falls airport, there will be some control line flying. Richard made a passing at last years AZM about the Smiths falls airport and further use after the Zone fun fly> I haven't asked him but I do wonder what he was implying.

Anyone with any interest in control line and knows of place to get together please let us all know and we can pass the word around.
