I recently bought a Dragonfly 22E and I'm guessing like some.. i managed to damage it before too much time... I'm in Ottawa and am finding a hell of a time looking for a place i can buy parts ... does anyone have any Ottawa sites/stores for a beginner like myself (parts sites or people helping others to get more familiar with this "art-form")? thanks for any assistance you can provide.
an enthusiastic beginner.

Welcome to the hobby.
Off the top of my head I don't know of any store in town which stocks DragonFly parts. I know some of the people on the board work at some of the stores so they may have more information. Some helis also have interchangable parts so something from a different model/mfg may work. What was broken? Do you have any photos?
For anyone else looking at getting in to the hobby, buy what the local stores tend to carry. Last time I checked this is what each store carried in electric micros. If anyone has a correction to this list let me know:
Dynamic Hobbies:
HeliMax MX-400
E-Flite Blade
HoneyBee E-Sky
GWS
Discount Hobbies:
HeliMax MX-400
E-Flite Blade
GWS
Century Hummingbirds
Multi Hobby:
GWS

thanks for all the info provided... i did visit dynamic hobbies & talked to someone at multi-hobby. And here is the thing... I bought the dragonfly 22E for $100 US via the web... But I thought the advise of going with whatever is popular in the city one resides was good so was thinking of buying a new unit on par with the dragonfly 22E. (Keep in mind I'm starting from scratch but eagar to learn) I was told the popular model was the HeliMax MX-400 pro, but its the price that threw me for a loop.. about $900 CAN to get it up and running (and that's on par with the Dragonfly 22E??????). Now I'm OK with there being units out there that cost $800+ and sooner or later I'll get one, but as a beginner.. its not the price i want to start with. So i guess I'm asking for what to get thats about the same size as the dragonfly 22E (I'm not into the really tiny units) that also approx. in the same snack bracket.. + keep in mind im in ottawa?
Also looking forward to the spring when I can see some people flying... I figure it'll be a good way of learning. ciao

Hi Sam,
Not sure if you considered the Blade CP, or if you feel it's one of the tiny units that your not too interested in. It's not that much smaller than the MX400 but its a lot cheaper to get in the air (around $270 for complete turnkey kit) it would also be cheaper for parts and batteries. I've flown them in 15-20 km/h winds but would not want to be learning at those wind speeds. The MX400 is a nice choper but not one I'd recomend for starting on. Not sure if you've been told to look into a simulator. They can help keep crash costs down and can pay for themselves many a time over:) I'd recomend a Blade CP and a simulator.
As for waiting for Spring to see some flying, there's usualy a few Heli's at the R/A Center on Saturdays 12:30-2:30 or even inside the Thunderdome first Saturday evening of the month.
Cheers
Scott
Hello samg09,
I just took a quick look at the Dragonfly 22e on a few sites and to me it looked that some parts might fit from the E-Flight blade/ E-Sky honeybee. With what specs I could gather it seems to be very close to both heli's.
So things like blades, gears, shafts etc may fit your heli.
Another option may be to scrap the Dragonfly and transfer the electronics into a bare-bones blade or honeybee kit, both heli's have parts avalible on the walls of most hobby shops.
I'm working at Discount Hobbies on Sunday from 11-5pm, we have spare kits and a bunch of parts for both the Blade and Honeybee. If you can come down we would be able to try parts on your machine to see if they fit, might be able to get you back in the air.

Thanks for the offer Wingnut... as per my call....I'm hoping we can touch base in a week or so...I'll bring the Dragonfly in but I think you're right... may have to move to a whole new unit so the turn-around on repairs can be more smooth.
