Climate Models has agreed to make the "Orville" short laser cut kits. I've sent Peter the updated wood file with a couple new parts this includes fixing the few tiny errors we found. The build article and plans are going out in the mail to him on Monday! So for those who have beeh waiting the wait is basically over.
Peter at Climate Models in Barrie has a new web page: http://www.welasercut.com
The price should be 75$ cdn or whatever that may be US. Go ahead and email Peter if you want one Iam sure he'll be eager cut some even before its hits his new web site!
PS What a nice Sunday for flying! Another 3 flights in for Orville today!

The Orville is now up on Peter Richards web site http://www.welasercut.com
The US price should equate to 75$ cdn.
I've just had my first peak at it and I've asked Peter to update some of the information. To be more infomative ie 50" wingspan etc.

I've just ordered my short kit.
The retail price was $74.79 CAD and the total with taxes and shipping included was $94.55 CAD.
I think i'll go 4 stroke on this one but i'm not sure what to get... OS FS30 or Saito 30S. What do you guys think?

Sev:
I have an OS.26 four stroker if you're interested...it's a little gem of an engine. Smallest 4S on the market? A $200+ motor for $80.
See what Ken thinks about power requirements...

Congrat's on buying the #1 kit off the line! I would go with the .30 size 4 stroke - It should sound amazing.
Iam playing Hookie today and will be out flying this Afternoon Friday 13 LOL!
And yes the .30 4-stroke is legal for the SMALL event! just and no more!!!! For 2 stroke its still .28

John... Do you know the weight of that engine? I did a quick online search and can't really find much on that particular engine other than it has about 20% less power than the OS FS-30S. If it's comparable in weight to the FS-30S I would be very interested.

That was the 26 that you put in the SMALL3D, right John? What prop did you use? I think it'd drag the Orville around the sky with no problems.

Sounds like a plan. ...And if the weather sucks we can make alternative arrangements if you are in a hurry to get it.

I'm not in a real big hurry to get it. I'm only planning on flying this thing by the winter fun fly. So if this weekend doesn't work out we can always do the following weekend.

I spent the afternoon out flying today and boy it was great!!!!!
3 more flights in! Snow was so soggy/wet/heavy etc etc. Iam going to build some larger ski's while the weather is the pitts this weekend.
Iam going down to Kingston RC club on Monday night to give a talk about Orville! We really got to get them guys up here next summer! Wish me luck!

Made lots of progress on Orville today. Funny how that happens on a day that the wind is gusting to 50km/h.
As always, you can see the up to date progress here:

Hi Ken,
looking good there Ken & Tom! Just an idea you may want to think about and see if Peter would do a full kit as well.
Personally I have found not everyone has a wire bender to do the UC and while alot of people like to supply their own personal stock of wood I think you are going to cut into sales only offering short kits.
Maybe Peter can offer them both and still price them reasonably. I used to offer a few kits just as short kits and always got requests to do the full kits.
In anycase I wish you guys the best!
Thanks,

Personally I have found not everyone has a wire bender
They make wire benders??? Sheesh... no one tells me these things!!! I just did my undercarriage with a vice, some vice grips, and some trial & error.
:D
Just jokin' around... thanks for the encouragement. I think Ken has been approached by Peter about a full kit. Only time will tell.
