Hello,

I have a Blade CP and I started to learn flying. Due to a few minor crashes, the tail gear housing became loose on the tail boom such that, after any landing, the vertical tail support is no longer vertical if the tail support hits the floor. I believe the tail support needs to be vertical as an indication that the thrust line of the tail rotor is horizontal.

My question is: Should I fix the housing with a drop of CA? If so, does the direction of the tail thrust line need to be precisely horizontal or should it be at an angle? Would it be better to add some tape to the end of the tail boom and make a press fit?

Thank you,
Gabriel

The tail rotor blades should be vertical with no offset angle and the thrust line horizontal. It the tail boom is metal you may find that CA doesn't stick very well. You could try roughing it up with a little sandpaper before you apply the glue otherwise press fit tape would be a better approach. Whichever approach you use make sure it is secure. You will loose control real fast if the tail box comes loose.

Thank you cgroves,

I've aplied just a small drop of CA, it worked for a while, but it became loose again. Next step is to use sand paper to improve the grip. I'd be surprised that the tail boom of the Blade to be metal. I always thought it was carbon rod.
