Hi Guys:
I know some of you are starting to look at the 2006 events. I need schedule and organizer information for any upcoming events that you are aware of. I have the Stetson Flyers 2006 events as they are up on their website. If you know of any events in the area from any of the other clubs for next year please PM me and I'll make sure they end up on the schedule.
Thanks,
cgroves

The good new! the date for 2006 Dynamic Hobbies SMALL event sponsored by the ORCC is set for the normal 3rd Saturday 15th July 2006. Its still a 1 day event as we've kind of peaked at the 50 registered pilot mark for the last couple of years. 50 pilots is a fantastic mark for our zone!!! No kidding. If lots of people start attending from distant lands then we will have to reconsider the 2 day event very seriously. For those who wish to stay till Sunday for another day would need to arrange for an ORCC member to be their sponsor for the day. Just flying Sunday no prizes no lunch etc etc....
The next thing is a building project that is well on the way of making it in your hands if you need to build a nice new model for the said SMALL event! I've designed a SMALL version of Gerry Pronovost "Orville" at 50" wingspan 3lbs and it flys great on a FX .25 At this time Iam just about to get the laser cut file sent out to get the first laser cut prototype made. This model when built should be converted to a Electric model so we can cover both worlds. We should soon have a price of said short kit ( Short kit would be instructions, plans, Wing ribs, Bulkheads etc. ) Depending on the cost of laser cutting parts and the cost of bulk wood that required to finish the model I might be able to add the extra wood uncut with the laser part as a single package. The short kit would speed construction up alot if you choose to get in on the Orville project. I still have a lot of steps to go before I can tell everyone an exact price etc. Stayed tuned!
The last thing and its not good news the ORCC may loose the use of the West end field in the Spring for a Hydro plant being built at our field location.
So I'll be holding my breath that a new and better field is located soon so the ORCC can continue to sponsor this big big big SMALL event.

Good news I'll have the prototype "Orville" short laser cut short kit in my hands this week! "Tom Hastie" email me and I'll set up to get you the kit the same day it arrives in Ottawa! Tom is going to build the prototype and also convert the model into a Electric Version!
Really good news it looks like Climate Models wants to add "Orville" to its line of fine kits and would make it really simple for everyone who wants one to order directly from the laser man! The cost has not been nailed down yet but Iam hoping to keep it under 70$ or about 1/2 the price of a full kit of a model this size!
For your druel factor I was out flying today and John Weeks got some great pictures of Orville flying about! enjoy!

Hey Ken...glad the pics turned out ok.
The Orville looks great in the air...I can see that you're having a blast flying it!!! :D :D
It'll be great to see the e-version once Tom puts it together...plus his fresh set of eyes on the kit will be a great "beta-test" of the design.

Thanks goes to John Weeks!!!!
John your work was great! John was doing what the military jokingly call a "One Step" on saturday! I really appreciate the help. You will get credit in any publication these shots appear in!
Military joke for Military Photo Tech is One step! ie Click job done! Just one of highly skilled jobs you can have in today Cdn Armed Forces. The fact that several photo-techs have been ejected with the Snowbirds in the last few years has driven the recruitment numbers down.

Although I pick my date way ahead of everyone else for the 3rd Saturday in July I have been told everyone else has picked this date as well. Notable are the Picton Scale rally and the Zone fun/fly in Brockville.
After much @#$%&*# words from me that I must change my date for the 2006 Dynamic Hobbies SMALL event to the 4th Saturday in July the 22nd.

Hi Tom!
I'll be picking up copies of the building plans from Gilmore reproductions today so you will have the most accurate up to date set of plans for the Orville. I hope the wood comes this week also.
