Does anyone know who had the black Bell 222/Airwolf at the Stetsons funfly? I saw a picture of it in the newsletter. Any idea on the size? Which mechanics? Which Body?

Hey Corey,

That's Don Dow's airwolf and I can tell you a bit about it.

It's the Vario big Airwolf fuselage running JetCat/Vario mechanics with Benzin components. It's powered by a JetCat HP5 turbine. He uses Futaba radio gear and it the gyro was a Futaba either 601 or 611.

As of our Giant Scale rally it had net yet been flown but the turbine had been spun up. He was going to have it test flown the following week.

He also brought out a JetCopter SX and flew it quite a bit. This is the pod and boom version of what is in the Airwolf.

Let me tell you it was absolutely incredible to see, smell and hear that turbine heli running.:D

BTW that Gy240 I got off of you was done but I sent it to Futaba and they replaced it with a new one at half price. So thanks again you saved me a bunch of dollars.

Will send a picture of airwolf flying to you Cory. If you can down size it fine but most have seen it by now but not flying.

Hi dd
Glad to see you made it on the forum okay. That is a really cool shot. Any chance of some video of it flying:D. When I get back this week I'll shrink the photo and post it in the thread.

Morning Corey

You may have to wait till your Spring Heli Bash to see Airwolf in flight. I will not be flying it much until then. I have another heli turbine on order, PowerCat. It will be more crispy than the JetCopter as it is lighter. I have to send the Jetcopter II off for a turbine overhaul as I am already 16 hours over the recommended sendin for turbine overhaul. Hope to have JetCopter I up and running soon as I hope, I have over come the turbine sensor control problem.

But in the meantime i have my e-blade to fiddle with. The little guy is a big challenge for me.

cheers
dd
