I got an email from the ORCC lead instructor this morning.

Sounds like ORCC regular Wednesday night training will start on April 30th.

For those who might not know, Wednesday night at ORCC is reserved for those receiving training. Things generally start after 5pm when folks get off work.

C'mon out and lets start handing out MAAC wings.

Great!!

I've really been looking forward to this, but there's a slight problem. I don't have a way to get to the field and home again. OC transpo has been a bit slow in converting the bike racks on the front of their buses to accept LT-40s. :D

Seriously though, I recently lost my drivers license due to a medical issue and I'm stuck taking the bus from my home in hunt club to work in Kanata. That probably means any weekday would not work for me since I would need to go home to pick up my plane and get the wife (or another member ;) ) to drive me out to the field.

I guess what I'm saying is that I would need to do it on the weekend. Are there any instructors that live in the south end that would be willing to pick me up in the morning, teach me everything they know, and drive me home again at the end of the day? like I said, I live in the hunt club area, near Hunt Club and Lorry Greenburg.

Thanks for reading, and happy training!!

Graham

Hi,

Is there a separate night for heli beginners or does everyone share the same airspace for training on Wednesday?

Thanks,
Victor

Heli students share the same night but it also depends on the instructor you are working with. With really early heli flyers who are just hovering I try to work a different evening since the constant hovering blocks the runway. Fixed wing students need more space to land than more experienced pilots and have a harder time with distractions.

Is this something we need to register for or do we just show up?

nope, just show up, though weather looks sucky tomorrow, still come out
if it's not raining, to at least get your trainer plane checked out, and you may get a flight in if weather holds and your plane is air worthy, however you must be a member of ORCC and Have Current MAAC insurance for 2008..
