They work... :D
Not that there was really any doubt. But when you make something using the TLAR method, it's nice when things actually work.
Made up the skis for my Funtana last Wednesday night. 1/32ply for the base, and 1/8th ply for the spine. Some balsa gussets to give some additional rigidity.
The ski toes are held up by a couple of bungee cords, and I have some steel fishing line (the kind I use for rudder pull-pull on gas aircraft) to set the max toe-up angle. I didn't notice any trim changes to the aircraft in flight. The skis never moved in the air. Touch and goes and donuts in the snow were almost as fun as the flying.
I was all alone at the field yesterday afternoon... so that made action shots a little difficult. It was still nice to get flying something larger than a foamy again!
