Note to people all buying the same ARF Trainers!

Go to your local hobby store and get some Mono-kote Trim sheets and make your Hobby-co Trainer look different than everybody's elses.

When you got 4 or 5 exact copies flying the cct the instructors may become confused on whoms plane he is really flying!

I still can't believe this happened!

A story torn from the pages of "Ripply's believe it or Not!"

Ken..... There were only 2 Nexstars flying that night.....Lets face it... IT WAS PILOT ERROR!!!
Besides at that time of the evening they were flying, no stripes will differentiate between planes….I was flying Karl’s at that time and they all look dark grey!!!
And Tony, No it did not happen again....

I can't post pictures until I get home, but I can guarantee you that my Nexstar Select trainer now looks very different from any of the others.

I realize that with three of them piled into the ground last week, that there will be some similarities to my tree bound plane, but the new paint job and additional ventilation provided this morning will ensure that mine is unique.

Really won't matter much because it will never fly again, but it does look unique now! :D :D

Well said Andre,

I am more than willing to stand up and wave and admit my error.:( An error that I should know better not to do. NEVER let your eyes leave the plane you are flying. I looked away to see if Andre could save Karl's plane after Karl lost control and when I looked back I started "flying" the wrong airplane. I can't speak for the other instructor but, I strongly suspect he did the same thing, we were both flying the same pattern and relatively close to each other. Given the overcast skies I doubt different color stripes would've helped. It was a freak and unfortunate occurance that would be difficult to reproduce if you tried!

Tom (the young lad who's plane I crashed), if you read this send me a pm and let me know how the repairs are going and if you need any help let me know.

Cheers,
Dave

BTW to clear up any confusion this occured the 24th of Augest.

I've only heard bits and pieces of this story.
So I can't assume guilt on anybody but it's happened to me(I mean it happened to a friend of mine):D Out at ORCC I have made the mistake of looking away from my little tiny mini super sportster doing a million miles per hour and when looking back I started to try and fly a comparatively large 60 size gas trainer that was putting along, but only for a second.Thank god you guys leave an exhaust trail!! No crash but I learned real quick not to look away.Big planes still look small at the right altitude:)
The plane I thought was mine was a different size, colour, plane, power system and apparently a different pilot:rolleyes:
So some checkered trim or whatever may not have helped too much, especially in low light.

Side note, if any of the students where left without a plane to learn on let me know and I will see what I can muster up, might not be the best but should be able to donate some kind of small flying machine to keep the learning going until your back in the air with somthing. It would at least look like a plane and fly:)
