I'm fixing up my Discus Launch Glider after an unfortunate encounter with a chain-link fence. Need to get some foam safe CA, then I should be back in the air.

What's everyone else flying this summer? Anything interesting/special, or is it just the 'usual' giant scale 3D stuff which seems to be the default these days? ;)

Mike has the same size car as you and he flies the big stuff. ;)

Ok, you got me there, Scott. I had no witty come back until I realized, I *AM* flying giant scale this year!

Is that a 150 or a 172? What are your ratings?

So when do I get a ride?

Forget just a ride, when do we start aero-towing

It's a 172. I'm doing my PPL (private pilot license) right now. Just started flying last week, actually, got a whoooole 3 hours under my belt. ;)

Hope to be done by January, when my wife is due. I don't think it would be fair taking off and flying every weekend when she's at home with a newborn, so I'm aiming to get as much of my training done by then as possible. Realistically though, it might take me through till late winter, depending if the finances can keep up with my flying.

I hope to solo somewhere around a month and a half from now.

Ground school two nights a week, plus flying two or three times a week really eats into the rest of my hobby time right now! :)

Ahhh yes, the first solo. It is one of those things you'll never forget. Looking over and realizing that the right seat really is empty  and it is all up to you.

What does this have to do with fitting a plane into the tiny-weene Mazda of yours?

Mike Gratton can get a 1/4 scale Laser and/or Edge 540 into his ....

Why can't you?

Well, these days my goal is to make all my airplanes fit in my new (to me) bike trailer. That means focusing more on the gliders and electrics.

Anyway, repair on the DLG is done, and I'm seeing if it still performs up to snuff. It's gained a little weight, and isn't quite as pretty, but I'll need a good day to see if it still floats like it used to. I flew it on Friday, and it was kind of windy and turbulent in the park I was flying in.

Next up, fix up my aerial photography ship...

Would love it if you can get some Aerial shots of the SMALL event on Sat July 23 at the ORCC field.

If someone will bring a video camera with AV inputs I'll get some video from my T-Rex. I have the remote camera and transmitter/receiver but nothing to record with on the ground.

Worst comes to worst, I have a VCR/small TV I can bring. Since it's only small airplanes there'll be plenty of room in the car. :D

Getting more in your car is just one of the GOOD things about SMALL.

That's definitely a plan for me. I'll be there with the same rig I used at the Ed Rae fun fly.

You mean, getting more in your bike trailer, right Ken? ;)
